About

Jenni Jean is a contemporary abstract painter based in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, her practice spans layered abstraction, expressive florals, and intimate botanical studies.
Her work is shaped by a life lived both in care and in close observation — from years spent working as a nurse, including fifteen years in Saudi Arabia, to more recent work in aged and palliative care within rural communities. These experiences, alongside a deep connection to landscape, inform a body of work that is both intuitive and reflective.
Jenni’s paintings often explore themes of presence, transformation, and quiet connection — where colour, movement, and mark-making become a way of holding moments that are felt rather than explained.
She has exhibited in the Incognito Art Show (2024), the Botanical Art Prize at Newcastle Art Space (2025), the Kairos group exhibition (2026), Picture Point's This Way Up exhibition (2026)) and her debut solo exhibition, The Sovereign Spiral: Beyond the Loop, at Neo Finance Group, Newcastle, in July 2026. She continues to develop work exploring emotion, connection, and what is felt, rather than seen.
